Creating your own electrical distribution block For all those pesky interior accessories.

For those who have an addiction to electronic items in your rig you may
find that your wires have become a entangled monster. I used this design a few years ago
when I did all the wiring in my Bronco. So this is a proven & safe way to distribute power.

This will give me 5 "always on" power connections.
This project will support the following
.

CB Radio, 50W Amateur Radio, 3-way split Cigarette plug-ins, GPS
1 open for future
.

Tools required: #2 Phillips screwdriver, Wire cutters
Wire Strippers, Crimp tool.

I used a "double" 10 terminal Bar block also called a "junction block". You can get them in a multitude of lengths, anywhere from 4 bars to 16 bars. I used the 10 bar which gives 5 positive and 5 negatives connections.

Depending on what you want to plug in, power will determine your wire gauge. I am using 12ga in this project. Start by cutting 4 pieces of each red and black to the length of 2"

Next strip about 1/4" off the ends. Anything more and you could run the risk of fraying or contacting other wires.
Use standard 12-16ga "blue" Open end connectors. make sure you push the wire all the way into the shielded connector.

You should have a pile of "jumper" wires that look something like this

I have found that when you jump from one stud to the next you will want to flip the connectors so they fit easier.

Go ahead and screw them down. It is easier to do reds first then the blacks.
end result should look similar

This design allowa you some choices as to where to hook up the lead wires. Pictures will explain.
  Example two.
  Example three.

You can mount this where ever you like but it needs to be away from where it could get wet. Interior is best.
This one will be going underneath the passenger side dashboard. Both the pos. and neg. will be 30Amp fused and 10Ga wire,
this cures ANY possibility of a short damaging the electronics.
When you do fuse it always fuse them as close to the battery or power source as possible.
